Another handy service from Google (or slightly spooky if you are that way inclined) is to find your phone and maybe wipe it if you want.
Go to https://www.google.com/android/find and sign in with your google password. Any devices with that account will be displayed in a list. I can see my phone has location turned off but is connected to my local wifi and has 85% battery charge left. If location is on this page will tell you where the device is. Of course if the phone has gone and someone has removed your account it isn’t going to work.
More usefully, if you can’t see where you left the unit, the website can trigger your phone or tablet to play a sound, even if it is set to silent. This works even if wifi is turned off as long as you have a mobile data connection.
